Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (25 oz) frozen ravioli (cheese or meat-filled)
- 2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey/Italian sausage)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef (or turkey/Italian sausage) over medium heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet with the meat and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the onion softens.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, dried basil, dried oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes to combine the flavors.
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce mixture on the bottom.
- Layer half of the frozen ravioli on top of the sauce, followed by half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining sauce, ravioli, and cheese.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- After 25 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley, if desired, and enjoy
