Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mayonnaise (full-fat or light)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped pickles or pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon capers (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  • Combine the Base: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard. Stir until well blended.
  • Add the Flavorings: Add the finely chopped pickles (or pickle relish), capers (if using), and fresh parsley to the mayo-mustard mixture. Stir to combine.
  • Season the Sauce: Stir in 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder (if using), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more lemon juice, mustard, or salt as desired.
  • Chill: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the tartar sauce for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. This step enhances the overall taste.
  • Serve: After chilling, give the sauce a final stir and serve with your favorite seafood, sandwiches, or as a dip for fries.
