Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of milk (dairy or non-dairy like almond, oat, or coconut milk)
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric or 1-inch piece of fresh turmeric root (grated)
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger or 1-inch piece of fresh ginger root (grated)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of black pepper (to enhance turmeric absorption)
- 1 teaspoon honey, maple syrup, or sweetener of your choice (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for added flavor)
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil or ghee (optional, for extra creaminess)
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for extra spice)
Instructions
- Prepare the milk: In a small saucepan, add your milk (dairy or non-dairy). Heat over medium heat until it’s warm, but not boiling.
- Add the spices: Stir in the ground turmeric, ground ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper. If using fresh turmeric and ginger, grate them finely and add them to the milk.
- Simmer: Allow the mixture to simmer for about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. This helps the flavors to blend and infuse into the milk.
- Sweeten the latte: Add honey, maple syrup, or your preferred sweetener to taste. Stir well until fully dissolved.
- Add optional ingredients: For extra richness, stir in coconut oil or ghee. You can also add a drop of vanilla extract for added flavor.
- Blend (optional): For a frothy texture, use a milk frother or blender to blend the latte for 30 seconds, ensuring it’s smooth and creamy.
- Serve: Pour the turmeric ginger latte into a mug, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or cayenne pepper on top (optional), and enjoy!
