Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk (warm)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cheesecake Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

For the Topping:

  • ¼ cup powdered sugar (for icing, optional)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for icing, optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
    • Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture, and whisk until well combined.
    • Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms. You may need to adjust the flour quantity slightly to achieve the right consistency.
  • Knead the Dough:
    • Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Prepare the Filling:
    • In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
    • Gently fold in the blueberries, being careful not to crush them.
  • Roll Out the Dough:
    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  • Spread the Filling:
    • Evenly spread the cream cheese filling over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Roll and Cut:
    • Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seams to seal.
    • Cut the log into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife or dental floss for clean cuts.
  • Arrange the Rolls:
    • Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, ensuring they are close but not touching. Cover with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the Oven:
    • While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the Rolls:
    • Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  • Prepare the Icing (optional):
    • While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust the consistency as needed.
  • Serve:
    • Allow the rolls to cool slightly before drizzling with icing (if using). Serve warm and enjoy!
