Ingredients
Scale
For the Dough:
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk (warm)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cheesecake Filling:
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
For the Topping:
- ¼ cup powdered sugar (for icing, optional)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for icing, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture, and whisk until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms. You may need to adjust the flour quantity slightly to achieve the right consistency.
- Knead the Dough:
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold in the blueberries, being careful not to crush them.
- Roll Out the Dough:
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
- Spread the Filling:
- Evenly spread the cream cheese filling over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Roll and Cut:
- Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seams to seal.
- Cut the log into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife or dental floss for clean cuts.
- Arrange the Rolls:
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, ensuring they are close but not touching. Cover with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the Oven:
- While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the Rolls:
- Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- Prepare the Icing (optional):
- While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust the consistency as needed.
- Serve:
- Allow the rolls to cool slightly before drizzling with icing (if using). Serve warm and enjoy!
