Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup cranberry sauce (fresh or canned)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (like cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Optional: chopped green onions or walnuts for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare the Cranberries: If using fresh cranberries, rinse them thoroughly and chop them finely. If using canned cranberry sauce, you can skip this step.
  • Mix the Cranberries: In a bowl, combine the chopped cranberries or cranberry sauce with sugar and lemon juice. Let this mixture sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Prepare the Cream Cheese: In a separate mixing bowl, spread the softened cream cheese evenly into a baking dish. You can use a spatula to make it smooth and even.
  • Layer the Mixture: Spoon the cranberry mixture over the cream cheese, spreading it out evenly.
  • Add Toppings: Sprinkle shredded cheese over the cranberry layer, then top with breadcrumbs or crushed crackers. Drizzle melted butter over the top for a golden finish.
  • Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly and the top is golden brown.
  • Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with crackers, toasted bread, or fresh vegetables.
