Ingredients
Scale
- 24 Oreo cookies (regular or seasonal)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate melts (dark or white chocolate)
- Food coloring (orange, black, or any Halloween colors)
- Edible decorations (Halloween-themed sprinkles, candy eyes, etc.)
Instructions
- Prepare the Oreo Mixture: In a large bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Assemble the Cookies: Take 12 Oreo cookies and carefully twist them apart. Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture on the filling side of each half. Press the other half back on top to form a sandwich. Repeat with the remaining cookies.
- Chill the Cookies: Place the assembled cookies on a baking sheet and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. This helps the filling firm up and makes the cookies easier to handle.
- Melt the Chocolate: While the cookies chill, melt the chocolate melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until fully melted and smooth. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the melted chocolate to create a festive hue.
- Dip the Cookies: Once the cookies have chilled, dip each cookie into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Use a fork to lift the cookie out and gently tap it against the bowl to remove excess chocolate.
- Decorate: Place the dipped cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. While the chocolate is still wet, add your decorations such as sprinkles or candy eyes to create spooky designs.
- Let Set: Allow the cookies to sit at room temperature until the chocolate hardens, or you can speed up the process by placing them back in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
- Serve: Once the chocolate is set, your Oreo Halloween Cookies are ready to enjoy! Serve them on a festive platter and watch them disappear at your Halloween gathering.
